We held our second Golf Fun Day in April at Folke Golf Club near Sherborne. It is rapidly becoming one of our most popular events due, in no small part, to the excellent facilities at Folke and the warm and enthusiastic welcome from Stephen Harris and his staff and that the competition is open to players of all abilities. As well as the main 9 hole Stapleford competition we also have a number of fun attractions such as chipping into the mouth of a waiting lion, putting, longest drive, nearest the pin and a tombola.

The winners of the Mens Stableford was Graham Jeans (Top Left) with Gordon McAndrew in second place. Just to keep it in the family the Ladies Stableford was won by Wendy Jeans (Top Left Centre) with Viv Davis in second place. The Novices winner was Brian Davis (Top Centre Right) with Sue Floyd in second place and John Ellis (Top Right) won the putting competition. In addition to trophies and certificates all our winners received excellent prizes which had been generously provided by a number of local businesses.

This year all profits are being shared with Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Life Education Wessex. Blackmore Vale Lions have added a contribution from our Charity Fund and this has enabled us to make donations of £1000 to both charities.
