At our Christmas Dinner this year we were entertained by the Blackmore Vale Luvies. (We were told that stood for the Lions Unequivocal Volunteers In Entertainment & Stagecraft). The "Play" was loosely based on Sleeping Beauty and featured such luminaries as our President, Peter, as the Princess; our immediate past President, Ian, as one of the ugly sisters and our Services Committee chairman, Geoff, in a multi role mode as the fairy godmother and the second ugly sister. Some of us noticed that he also bore more than a passing resemblance to Prince Charley. Our Treasurer, David, gave a magnificent performance as the wicked fairy, and was almost as scary as when he's asked for money. Colin, our House committee chairman, not only produced the panto but somehow managed to keep his unruly cast under control on the night. All in all it was an hilarious production and we now wait for next year's dinner to see if they can surpass themselves.
