The Lions Club
of Blackmore Vale is fairly typical of almost 1,000 Clubs in these Islands. We
have a membership of around 20 comprising people from a wide range of professions.
The Club was initially formed with 24 members in 1979, and was presented with
its Charter on the the 1st June of that year.
We
have an active programme of events which include:
Our
Sponsored Walk and Quiz which took place on Sunday October 1st 2006
The
annual Swimmarathon which

tour of our villages and hamlets by Father Christmas

Together with E.On Energy, we are proud to sponsor the 'Message in a
Bottle' scheme in the Blackmore Vale.
Involvement in the Dentaid programme to equip remote
African communities with refurbished dental equipment no longer required by UK
Dental practices.
Our continuous involvement in
Eye Health activities for the third world. by supporting the Spectrek and
SightFirst campaigns.
These
and our other events are generously supported by the population of this area
and, thanks to them; to the dedication of our members and to the very positive
support of our wonderful Lions Ladies; we pass on about £13,000 a year to
those who need it most.
Our involvement in the local community
can be summed up in a short sentence.
